Google Photos now requires you to select the photos you want to import into Pixfolio. Why do you need to import? See Google 2025 Changes FAQ.
Select photos on a computer if possible. It is far easier to select lots of photos using a mouse and keyboard by shift+selecting all the photos at once.
Select on a computer:
Select consecutive of photos by selecting the first photo and then shift+selecting the last photo and then releasing the shift key. All photos between the first and last photo will be selected.
Scrolling is best done with the mouse wheel. You can also use the arrow or page down keys.
Select on a phone or tablet:
If you must select on a phone, select individual photos by tapping them or you can select all photos on a specific day by tapping the day.
If you are asked by the web browser to open the site in the Google Photos app, do not. Google only supports these selections on the Google Photos website.
Zoom out:
You can see more thumbnails by selecting Ctrl+(minus key) or Cmd+(minus key) to zoom out. Press Ctrl+0 or Cmd+0 to reset the zoom level back to normal.
Do multiple imports:
You can import multiple times, so it may be easier to import a selection and then return later for a different selection. Google Photos will only allow you to select 2000 photos at a time. If you want to select more than 2000 photos, you must do multiple imports.
Use the search bar:
Use the search bar to search your Google Photos library. You can search on dates, places, people, topics, file types and albums. You can select photos and then search again. This allows you to select photos across different searches.
How to Select Albums
Select an entire album by searching on the album name and then selecting all photos (select first photo and then shift+select the last photo).
It can save time to create albums in Google Photos before you import them into Pixfolio. You can select the entire album instead of picking and choosing individual photos. Albums can save a lot of time if you need to import the same album on multiple devices or installations.
How to Select Days, Months, or Years
Use the search bar to show photos on a single day, month, or year by typing the date into the search bar. Examples can be “August 7, 2022”, “August 2022”, or “2022” depending on how specific your time search.
How to select a place or subject
Use the search bar to find photos taken at specific locations, of specific people, or things.
How to select photos from shared albums
Google will only allow you to select photos that you own. They will not surface any photos from shared accounts. The only way to select those photos is to upload them to your own albums.
